Free, Personalized Tutoring for Children and Adults to Bridge the Education Gap

Our Mission – We provide educational programs, basic skill building and academic enhancement for at-risk children and adults, designed to build self-sufficiency skills for academic and employment success, personal achievement and dignity.

Breaking News!! Exciting SVSF now offers GED Tests! SVSF, in association with Pearson Vue (who runs the GED test on behalf of the Department of Education) now has a Testing Site that is open to the public, as well as our own students. The reason that this is a very important accomplishment is that in the City of Detroit, there is only one other testing site in the City’s 140 square miles that is open to public testers which posed a barrier towards employment for our adult learners. We are proud to remove this barrier to make GED testing more accessible for our community.

  • Detroit is a proud partner of the City of Detroit and Detroit at Work and the Skills for Life Program.
  • Obtaining the GED is an essential part of obtaining secure and sustainable employment. But it is only the first step.
  • SVSF Center provides free personalized tutoring to help adults to obtain their GED (or refresh math/reading skills) and mentoring leading to vocational training, higher education and/or employment.
